Automobiles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Police stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior official said the vandalism left him without words and had to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
